Filmmakers' freedom of expression will now be protected: Ashoke Pandit on Joshi as new CBFC chief
Mumbai, Aug 12 (ANI): Hailing the Centre decision of getting famous lyricist Prasoon Joshi on the chair of the chairman of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), filmmaker Ashoke Pandit feels that now filmmakers' freedom of expression will be protected. Talking exclusively to ANI, Ashoke expressed his confidence in Joshi's ability and said Shyam Benegal committee's report will soon be considered. For the unversed, Pahalaj Nihalani has been under the radar for the recent cuts and censorship in movies and has been dethroned as the CBFC chief by famous lyricist Prasoon Joshi. Nihalani, who took the office of the chairperson of CBFC on January 19, 2015, gained infamous reputation for scissoring movies like 'Lipstick Under My Burkha', 'Jab Harry Met Sejal', 'Babumoshai Bandukbaaz', 'Udta Punjab' in the recent past.
