12-year-old Pune boy designs ship ‘ERVIS’ to clean oceans
Pune (Maharashtra), Jan 23 (ANI): A 12-year-old boy from Pune has joined the fight against ocean pollution. Haaziq Kazi has developed a ship called ‘ERVIS’ which segregates ocean waste from water, and could be a huge step in preserving marine life. Kazi got the inspiration for ‘ERVIS’ after he watched documentaries highlighting the impact of waste on ocean life. “I watched some documentaries & realized the impact waste has on marine life. I felt I had to do something. Hence, I came up with ERVIS," Kazi told ANI. “The saucers use centripetal force to suck in the waste, which is then segregated between water, marine life and waste. Marine life and water is sent back to the ocean, while the waste is segregated into five more parts,” the 12-year-old explained how the ship functions.
