Dalai Lama meets devotees from across globe in India
Dharamsala (HP), Apr 16 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, interacted with devotees from across the globe in India's Dharamsala on Monday. Over 2,000 devotees, including some from India, converged at Tsuglagkhang monastery, the main Buddhist temple in the Himalayan hill town, to get a glimpse of the maroon-robed prelate and to listen to his teachings. Devotees expressed their happiness at being able to see the Dalai Lama. The Nobel Peace Prize winning monk blessed devotees and delivered a special sermon against racism. China took control of Tibet in 1950 in what it called a "peaceful liberation". In March 1959, the Dalai Lama, then 23 years old, fled to India along with his followers after a failed uprising against China. India is a home for about 150,000 Tibetan exiles, most of them arrived here after escaping the Chinese occupation in Tibet.
