The admission supervisory committee for professional colleges has issued notice to Mary Matha College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, for refusing to return Rs 1 lakh security deposit to a student.
 
The student's father, Vasudevan Nair, in his complaint had alleged that the college had taken a security deposit of Rs 1 lakh from his son.
 
He said his son had taken an education loan from a bank to pursue a degree in engineering and now the bank wants the money back. However, the college management refused to return the security deposit.
