Singapore is recognized globally as a high-performing education system. Singapore students fared very well in the 2009 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA).
 
Out of 65 countries that took part in these tests, Singapore students ranked fifth in reading, second in mathematics and fourth in science.
 
"Singapore also had the second highest proportion (12.3 percent) of students who are top performers in all three domains," according to a press release from Singapore's Ministry of Education.
