Bihar Education Project launches 'Shiksha Rakhi' for children's education

In a bid to eradicate illiteracy and ensure children's right to education through enrolment in schools, the state government, in association with the Bihar Education Project (BEP), has launched a unique initiative named 'Shiksha Bandhan'.

It was formally launched on the eve of Raksha Bandhan on Tuesday. School-going children will tie rakhis on the wrists of out-of-school children on Thursday and inspire them to enrol in schools.

This move has been hailed by many in the academic circles and they say that using the Indian tradition to encourage education is something innovative.
