To those who are not aware, ERASMUS stands for European Union Student Exchange Program. It is during this time that more than two million students in Europe tend to travel from one country to another within EU for educational purpose. In other words, this is more like a student exchange program and it has been picking up in demand from the past fifteen years. Students are opting for abroad education as part of their home degree and usually the study period can range between one month and one year depending on the environment of the educational institutions. Also, it is not just the EU but even the US which is known for sending nearly 75000 students each year to different parts of the world such as Argentina, UK, China and Italy. Due to the international student exchange program, it has become easy for the student to continue their education at a foreign country with the same cost and health insurance benefits. Currently, the one-semester programs are considered the favourites. After completion of their exchange program, the students bring back a transcript of their work back home. This has proved to be quite beneficial for them. There is also the International Study Abroad program wherein unlike the student exchange programs between two universities or educational institutions, a student is allowed to study anywhere in the world with an institution of his/her choice. One of the notable institutions in this area is the Institute For Study Abroad, Butler University and Boston University. |
