This might sound a bit unusual but then it is heard that the state of Tamil Nadu is actually facing severe shortage of medical specialists especially surgeons.
 
Buzz is that many post graduate doctors are not willing to get into specialists courses and streams like vascular surgery, cardiac surgery, pediatric surgery etc are lying vacant in government colleges.
 
Sources say that most of the post graduate doctors feel they are having a comfortable life and good job so they don't feel the need to study further. The other main reason is the government bond that after completing the course, the students should work in a village.
