Moscow, June 29 : Schools should not teach
difficult subjects like mathematics and physics to children on Thursdays
because it was "the hardest day of the week", Russia's chief sanitary
doctor has said in a recommendation.
"Children have their own
bio-rhythms and Thursday is the hardest day of the week," RIA Novosti
quoted Gennady Onishchenko as telling the Ekho Moskvy radio station in
an interview.
"Therefore, it is not recommended to teach
difficult subjects like mathematics and physics on Thursdays because
those subjects require a heavier load on the brain," he said.
The
doctor said there are special conditions in school scheduling and that
parents should know about them. Parents should also take a more active
role in curriculum planning to cut down on excessive mental load on
children.
