kunjananthante kada Malluwood Movie Review
Story:
A well knit tale, the story is about Kunjananthan (mammootty) who owns a shop. More than anything else, his shop means everything to him and he is a proud man who relishes his father’s good name in the vicinity. This attitude of his also leads to trouble in his marital life with wife Chithira (nyla usha). The story takes a turn when the road development authorities give 15 days for Kunjan to vacate his shop and he tries different ways to avoid it due to his possessiveness. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was slow. The dialogues were well written. The script was neat and the screenplay could have been sharp. The background score was good and songs were hummable. Cinematography was professional. Editing was required in key scenes. Costumes were natural while the art department was good. Mammootty has given a very good performance and he suits well. Nyla Usha was competent in her debut attempt. Salim Kumar was standard. Balachandra Menon was apt. the others didn’t get much to offer.

Conclusion:
Coming from the camp of a national award filmmaker, it was expected that he would deal with sensitive topics related to relationships. Here also the same genre has been chosen and it has got its own good moments. The first half was dealing with elements of romance, some comedy and drama but the second half was quite serious and emotional. The main deterrent for the film was its slow pace which took away the fizz. At the box office, this is going to be an average grosser.

Bharatstudent verdict: Slow but interesting and well made
