Up & Down - Mukalil Oralundu Malluwood Movie Review
Story:
An interesting tale the story is set on the backdrop of a big building known as Maha Flats. It is the anniversary celebrations to take place on the terrace. Just when the lift is going up, it gets stuck midway. Stuck in it are nine people. They are liftman Thampuran (indrajith), Sam (Baiju) the builder, his dancer wife Prasanna (remya), an alcoholic writer Nair (prathap pothan), the commissioner of police Siyaad (Ganesh Kumar), an NRI Cheriyan (nandu) and a young boy Shanku (master devaraman). The dead body of a call girl (meghana raj) on the lift changes the tale and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative was good in parts. The dialogues were reasonable. The script was above average but the screenplay could have been tighter. The background score was suitable and songs were okay. Cinematography was impressive. Editing was required in significant places. Costumes were suiting the moods while the art department was natural. Indrajith has done a good job. Baiju was neat, Remya was sensuous, Prathap Pothan was good, Ganesh Kumar was sharp, Nandu was natural, Meghana was sexy.

Conclusion:
Thriller films are always nice to watch and if they are weaved with good suspense and nice twists. This film also attempted something like that but along with that a good pace is required which was missing. The first half was good with the introduction of the characters and the layering of the plot but it is the second half which got dragged with unwanted things. Still, the overall effect of the film has been good. At the box office, this can be an average grosser.

Bharatstudent verdict:
Good film could have been trimmed to get more impact
