Mayilu Kollywood Movie Review
Story: An average tale, the story begins with Sellapandi (shri) who is the son of the village chieftain and he is a staunch believer of communism. He is loved by Mayilu (shammu) who wants to marry him at any cost. Due to an unexpected situation, Sellapandi is pronounced to become the priest of the temple against his wishes. At that time, Shammu tells him a lie and both elope to get married. They take the help of Kumar (vidharth) who is a communist. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a familiar storyline and while the presentation was natural, the narrative was slow.  The dialogues were okay, the script was predictable and the screenplay was just okay. Background score was the main life and soul for this film and there are no songs. Cinematography was effective. Editing was upto the mark. Costumes were rustic while the art department was apt. Shri has done a good job and he carried his role well. Shammu was naturally expressive and she scores. Ganja Karuppu brought few smiles. Vidharth made his presence felt. The others did their bit as required and added value.

Conclusion: The theme about two people in village falling in love and the orthodox customs of the village coming in between has been seen a lot by the audience. The same theme runs around this movie but then the performances stand apart. The first half goes on a little casual note but things change during the second half with some seriousness and an ideology clash. At the box office, the film will turn out to be an average to below average grosser.

Bharatstudent verdict: Predictable story, good performances, not that great
