Fist Women chief justice of Indian High Court and also first women Judge of High Court, Delhi, She was the first women to score top in Examinations in London 1958 and joined Bar. She started her practice in Patna ,Calcutta, Delhi , and worked a junior lawyer under Ashok Kumar Sen , served many postilion and retired as chief justice of Himachal Pradesh .

• She was appointed as one-member commission for examining the death in custody of Raj Pillai, She was also the member of 15^th law Commission of India.
  
  
• Her autobiography 'On Balance' was published in Penguin Indian , she presented all he life experience and personal life struggles she faced and about her children and their achievements .

• She was enrolled for High Court Calcutta and Supreme Court at same time and she also practiced in Hight Court Patna for 10 years .
  
  
• She played key roles in different fields, She was the Vice President , World Wildlife Fund , India and Chair person for Common Wealth Human Rights Initiative .She was the member of National Law Commission and Executive council MARG, Advisory Board WISCOMP
