With the likes of Samsung, Apple invading the mobile market, the unique Research In Motion (RIM) which has made Blackberry Smartphones has been facing competition. Now, they have come up with their latest product Blackberry Porsche P9981. As the name indicates, this is done by Porsche Design and it has a stainless steel frame, sculpted QWERTY keyboard, touch display, hand-wrapped leather back cover.
It also has the exclusive PIN facility. The Porsche P9981 has a 1.2 Ghz processor and uses liquid graphics technology. It has HD video recording with 24-bit high resolution graphics equipped with advanced sensors. There is also a built-in support for NFC (near field communications) along with the 8 GB of on-board memory. This is expandable to up to 40 GB with a microSD card.
The device is exclusive for the creamy layer as it has been priced at Rs 1.39 lakhs and this would not be sold through distribution network. The customers would have to order it during the first phase and it will be available in select showrooms. The Porsche P9981 is being projected as the perfect culmination of style and functionality with exceptional feel and look.
Currently, Blackberry is having 15% of the market share. But the first reactions towards this mobile have not been that positive. Considering the mass appeal that the Indian mobile consumer market looks for, Porsche P9981 is only for those high-end flyers so the business for this mobile could be gauged through number of units sold rather than a bulk sale. Let us see how India receives this one.
