Take the Urad dal and Clean, wash and soak it in enough water for at least 1 hour
Drain them and add it with asafetida, chilies and 1/4th cup of water
Blend it in a mixer to a smooth paste
This should be added with coriander, cabbage, peas, onions and salt and mixed well
Your fingers must be wet and take some batter to make a hole in the centre using your thumb
Slide the vada into the hot oil gently and deep-fry
Keep it on a medium flame till it turns golden brown in colour on all sides
Repeat the process with the remaining batter
