Take the Tuvar dal and steam cook it. Keep it aside once it is done
Take the whole mango and cut into small slices or cubes as per your comfort level
Now take a pan and heat it in low flame
This should be added with either one tablespoon of oil or ghee
Add asafetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves and halved red chilies
Once the mustard seeds begin to crackle, add the raw mango slices and mix well
About 50-75 ml of water can be added for the mango to cook
Leave the mango to cook for 3-5 minutes and then add the dal
Now add salt and turmeric to taste and allow it to cook for another 5 minutes on low flame
