Take a large sauce pan and put all the ingredients
Simmer it over low heat until the chicken is done
The chicken must be removed and its skin must be removed
Start cooking the chicken and while it is on, prepare the dumplings Preparation (for dumplings): Take a mixing bowl and put flour in it
Add salt to it and start stirring
Take two knives or a pastry cutter and work in shortening like you are making a pie crust
Add the dough mix with egg
Stir the whole mix in ½ cup cold water at a time
The dough must come together and you should be able to roll it out
Spread a surface with flour lightly and roll the dough to a pie shell thickness (about 1/8 inch)
Cut the dough into 1/2 to 1 inch squares using a pizza cutter
Take the squares and put them in the chicken broth
Cook for about 30 minutes till it is done
Return the chicken to the soup with the dumplings
Cook for another 15 minutes till you get a gravy texture
Once the gravy texture forms it's ready to serve. |
