Richa Gangopadhyay

• Richa was born in a Bengali Brahmin family and her parents are Utpal and Paula Gangopadhyay. Her father is a Bengali while her mother is an American.
• Utpal works as COO of Netshape Technologies in Delhi while Paula is the director of education in the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit. They settled in the USA in 1989.
• Richa spent her first year in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and later was brought up in Pennsylvania and Michigan. She did her schooling at the Okemos High School
• She also came up with a youth-tutoring program for at-risk children in Lansing which she successfully ran for four years.
• Richa did her majors in Dietetics and Health Administration at Michigan State University and eventually got into modelling and did some major assignments
• It was in 2005-06 wherein she took part in beauty pageants and the Miss India USA competitions. She was crowned Miss India USA in the year 2007 at New Jersey.
• She made her debut with the film Leader and went to Tamil to do the film Mayakkam Enna. Recently she also did a Bengali movie with big superstar Prosenjit.
• Richa won superhit film award for most talented debut followed by Edison award for best actress and also the Norway Tamil film festival award.
