Set in the year 2035, JA Titan(TM) creates a world in which players are CEOs of their own companies. Originally conceived in the 1980s as the Management and Economic Simulation Exercise, or MESE, JA Titan(TM) is a widely recognized business simulation for students. During game play, students must run a manufacturing company and master six key business decisions: price of product, production levels, marketing expenses, research and development costs, capital investment level, and charitable giving. Various corporate assistants “help” the player through each phase, or “quarter,” of game play.
Objective of competition
1. To assess students’ business decision making abilities and their ability to manage inter-dependencies between business functions
2. To assess students’ ability in making business decisions, in limited time, with limited availability of information
Game format
Students assume functional roles within smaller teams, where the team as a whole makes quarterly business decisions to achieve the business objective of becoming the ‘Best Performing Business’, which is measured by a ‘Performance Index’. Teams should decipher the drivers of performance and their relative importance based on their individual and comparative company analysis.
