Audio Review: DOOKUDU

Movie: DOOKUDU

Prince Mahesh Babu is back and this time he is teaming up with director Srinu Vytla while the lovely smile beauty Samantha is the leading lady. Thaman is the music director so let us have a look at the songs

Nee Dookudu
Artist(s): Shankar Mahadevan
Lyricist: Viswa

This is the title song and starts on an intense note. Thaman has used the electric guitar and mixed it with the Congo and the regular beat instruments in a stylish manner. The pace and energy of the song is quite high and the icing on the cake is the vocals by Shankar. He was well supported by a female singer and chorus. There is a western feel to the song and the lyrics are describing the protagonist very well. A good number...

Guruvaram
Artist(s): Rahul Nambiar
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

This is a highlight solo of the album. With a youthful beat, Thaman has used the keyboard along with electronic instruments. The drums with octapad and electric guitar are filled with melody and a classical feel. The song gets the required punch from the singer who modulates it with the right feel and emotion. The pace is consistent and the words written are simple but they convey the right experience of a heart which is in love.

Chulbuli Chulbuli
Artist(s): Karthik, Rita
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

This is a mass number and the duet opens in a soft note at the start but it picks up as the song progresses. The usage of Dholak, Drums and other electronic instruments is well balanced and focus was there on keeping it in the mass style. Both singers shared good chemistry and though one can get the feel of 'Kilimanjaro' from the film 'Robot', there is a decent appeal. The lyrics have a good tinge of romanticism, fun and teasing.

Poovai Poovai
Artist(s): Ramya, Naveen Madhav
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

This is a foot tapping number and it takes off giving a retro feel of the 80s when disco first came in. The blending of drums and guitar along with trombone and percussion instruments is excellent. The energy levels and Jhankar beats are foot tapping. The song gets an adrenalin charge due to the singers who have that shrill voice with the right pitch. The accent part is enjoyable. The feelings of a beautiful girl and that too in a nativity way are well explained by the lyricist. This is worth listening!!

Dethadi Dethadi
Artist(s): Ranjith, Divya
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

A typical Thaman number, the song has that typical Band Baaja along with the guitar and percussion instruments. A good usage of violin and Thaman has shown his music mettle in this one. Though the pace is mild, the duet has been rendered well by the singers and both are in sync with the beats. The lyrics have a lot of saucy words and it has an element of passion as well.

Adara Adara Adaragottu
Artist(s): Karthik, Koti, Rama Jhogaya Sastry, Vardhini, Ranina Reddy, Mega
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

Another beautiful song with a different feel of music, this is more like a wedding song. Thaman has brought in the instruments of ghatam, Nadaswaram along with guitar, keyboard and his favourite drums. The song gets its real energy from the group of singers and all of them give good energy to the track. Even the lyrics have been modified with the right kind of adjectives and this will start becoming a favourite in the real life marriages.

Bharatstudent verdict: This is perhaps the first time that Thaman has drifted from his routine beats. He has brought in variety and there is also a good element of melody apart from the regular thumping of drums. The choice of singers is good and they have rendered with a high involvement. Though the lyrical value is somewhat average, the songs have enough material to strike a chord with the youth as well as the masses. Overall, this is a worthy buy for all.
