Review: THOOVALKATTU

Film: THOOVALKATTU
Rating: 1/5
Cast: Manoj K Jayan, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, Jagadeesh, Indrans, Sai KumarBindu Panicker
Music: Prasad
Cinematographer: Suresh Rajan
Director: Venu B Nair
Producer: Ashok Kumar
Release Date: June 20, 2010

Story:
A totally confused tale, the story begins with Sundaran who is not an attractive man but then he is liked by one and all in his village. Two people especially fall for him. One is Devu (lakshmi) and the other is Hajiyar (saikumar) who is his employee but behaves more like his elder brother. The story takes a turn when Hajiyar's daughter falls in love with a terrorist and despite various debates, they end up blowing a mansion. On the other hand, Devu has her own share of experience as she is lusted by a serpent who takes the form of a man. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a ridiculous storyline and neither the presentation nor the narrative were upto the mark. The dialogues were dull, the script was shallow and the screenplay was horrible. Background score failed to impress and so did the songs. Camerawork was good at few places. Editing was numb. Costumes and art department were brief. The only saving grace for the film is the lead pair of Manoj Jayan and Lekshmi Gopalaswamy. Both of them gave in their committed best to infuse life into the characters but in vain. Jagadeesh was regular, Indrans was okay, Saikumar was standard, Bindu Panicker was okay, the others didn't have anything to offer.

Conclusion:
The film runs on a rather ridiculous plot line and the audience fails to understand whether it is about the terrorism or those unfortunate one nights that can change the life of a girl forever. While the first half goes about with the building up of the plot, the second half is busy dismantling and throughout this, the audience is busy trying to understand what is happening on the screen. Overall, the film's only grace is due to Manoj and Lekshmi, however, the film seems to be a sure shot dud at the box office.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Terrible!!!
