Sarathi" is surely
going to lift up the spirits of its lead actor
Darshan, who is currently
in jail, facing charges of assaulting and harassing his wife. Directed
by his brother Dinakar Thoogudeepa, the film is an entertaining venture
and has all ingredients of a typical commercial film. The film is a
must-watch for everyone who was eagerly waiting for a big blockbuster
extravaganza.
This is Thoogudeepa's third venture and, just like
his first film "Jothe Jotheyali", this film too has massive potential to
be a commercial success because of its neat packaging and gripping
script.
The film has its flaws but all of that has been
overshadowed by the brisk narration and rolling screenplay. Not to
forget the crisp and sharp dialogues, which are literally the backbone
of the movie. In short, each and every department has lent their support
to make the film what it is.
Though '
Sarathi' is a star studded
film, the technicians also deserve a lot of appreciation. Be it editing,
art or costume designing, the hard work they have put in reflects all
through the film.
But it is
Darshan's presence and charisma that
steals the show. His effortless action sequences and dynamic expressions
are real treat for his fans.
The highlight of the film is the
climax sequence where hundreds of ferocious cows chase the hero's
father. It is a visual delight which has been shot with great precision.
The
film has its share of flaws. The first half could have been pruned a
little as there are many unnecessary and avoidable sequences. Hence it
drags a little bit there.
The story of the film revolves around
Darshan (Krishna) who has no knowledge about his past and is adopted by
Raghanna (Sharath). The only thing that is constant in his life is a
dream that disturbs him often, but he is unable to interpret it. Then he
accidentally meets Rukmini (Deepa), a pampered girl, who always picks
up a quarrel with others.
Slowly both Krishna and Rukmini
become closer. Soon, situations lead him to a village where Rukmini has
been forcibly taken by her cousin. Later Krishna realises that the place
is his own village and his memory is revived which enables him to
unravel the mystery of his dream. Finally, the suspense related to his
background and his father's death is revealed.
Actress Deepa Sannidhi, who made her debut in the film has given a creditable performance.
Tamil actor Sharath Kumar makes a dignified presence in the role of
Darshan's father.
"
Sarathi" is certainly more than a paisa vasool film.
Darshan fans will immensely like it.
