Film: YOGI Rating: 2.75/5 Cast: Yogish, Bianca Desai, Sherin, Rekha, Suchendra Prasad, Praveen, Harshita etc. Music: Emil Camera: Dasari Seenu Director: Udayaprakash Producer: K Manju Release Date: October 30, 2009 Story: A masala tale, the story begins with Yogi (yogish) who has a rough childhood and so grows up to work as a supplier in a hotel. He is an ardent fan of power star Puneeth Rajkumar and is also known for his integrity and physical strength. His life takes a turn when he is compelled to pick up a fight with a goon who happens to be the brother of the noted don K K. At the same time, KK's rival Babu comes to end his brother. However, watching Yogi beat the pulp out of him, he is happy. Soon, he takes Yogi under his wings and unwillingly, Yogi gets into the underworld. He has the support of Paddu (shirin) who likes Yogi's innocence. On the other hand, he has a sweetheart in the form of Mala (Bianca). Trouble begins when Mala supports KK since she feels Yogi is responsible for the death of her father. What happens from there forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director has come up with a formula film and though the presentation has been good, it is the narrative which fails to be consistent. Dialogues are okay, script had few weak points, screenplay was normal. Background score was regular and not much from the songs as well. Cinematography was brilliant and so were the fight sequences. Editing could have been better, costumes were realistic and the art department also looked natural. Yogish did a good job and he fitted the bill as a rough guy, Bianca looked beautiful and glamorous, not much from her in performance. Shirin looked sizzling hot and does justice. Suchendra Prasad was neat, Praveen was good, Rekha was alright, the others did their bit as required. Conclusion: The film happens to be a pure mass masala entertainer and though the formula was set, it was not executed well. The take off is high voltage for about twenty minutes and the interval comes in no time. However, the second half fizzles out and the grip is lost. The sequences could have been interesting but then it turns out to be predictable and nothing much to offer. Overall, the film has got its own good points and weak points so it is watchable in parts. The mass will relate to the film, not much for the family audience though. Bharatstudent Verdict: Could have been better |
