New Delhi, April 11 : The holiday season is round
the corner and you don't know what to pack? Designers suggest jazzing
up the resort wardrobe with accessories or going for innovative garments
like the bikini sari and bright colour kaftans teamed with studded
footwear.
Resort wear is not just about the sarong, shorts,
t-shirt and wraparound. Fabrics also make a difference like the silk
chiffon, crepe and silk lycra while lazing around during holidays.
"Always
go for resort wardrobe made with intelligent fabrics that are
non-fussy, easy to maintain and extremely durable for a holiday, whether
you're on land or sea," Narresh of designer duo
Shivan-Narresh, known
for the resort wear line, told IANS.
"Don't try to go overboard
with your oomph quotient while holidaying and opt for breezy
silhouettes. Go for bright colours that cut strategically on the body,"
he added.
Shivan said: "A swimsuit, sarong, trapeze linen shirt
and the bikini sari are perfect whether you are spending your time on a
beach or in a bar."
Cruise wear got prominence on the ramp at the
last edition of the
Lakme Fashion Week when models hit the ramp in
outfits with tribal and digital prints, bohemian style jumpsuits,
rompers and short dresses with multiple buttons.
Designer Jatin
Varma says the kaftan and sarong may be a must-have for girls who don't
want to experiment with their looks, but one can add spark to looks by
styling with funky accessories like chunky neckpieces, elegant hats,
chic hairbands, scarves and metallic chappals. There are options
aplenty.
"Yes, there are girls who believe they have limited
option when it comes to resort wear, but one needs to learn how to style
up the evergreen kaftans and sarongs in different and new ways," Varma
told IANS.
"One can team up bright coloured kaftans with trendy
accessories. Also, bling shorts with a cotton top and short length
kaftans with a pair of bling shorts can add volume to the entire
personality."
For many style divas, designs and cuts are important but they should emphasise on accessories too.
"Selection
of the right accessory is the key to boosting holiday wear and one can
jazz it up by going for flower-butterfly clips, hairbands, big
sunglasses or aviators and metallic hue chappals," said Puri.
"Accessories
play a major role in enhancing the look. Go for oversized sunglasses,
hats, neon neckpieces and chunky metallic bracelets and colour blocked
wedge sandals as they spice up the look and set you apart from the
rest," said designer
Archana Kochhar.
Designer Pria Kataaria Puri
said, "Breezy semi fluid fabrics such as silk chiffon, crepes and silk
lycra in hues like bright orange, tangerine, sunshine yellow, apple
green, candyfloss pink and off white are perfect for the cruise line."
