1.    You are a qualified IT graduate. Why did you choose Acting as a Career?

I come from a middle class background and my parents gave importance to education. My past life, the IT field, as I call it was a means to an end. A handsome salary and a branded IBM (USA) engineer tag was good. But what was exciting and satisfying was a calling that, I always had since i was a kid ,that would be acting. It was just a matter of time for me to shift professions and do what I was meant to. I always knew that I wanted to be an actor but I also knew I had to do it on my own. That's what makes me proud and most importantly my parents proud as well.

2.    Tell us about Anubhav "The Actor". Did any special training was done before getting into acting as a profession?

Anubhav "The Actor". Just sounds funny when read like that. I don't think that anyone can learn acting or anyone can teach acting. It's either in you or its not. You cannot cheat it. Having said that, I do believe formal training does help hone your skills. It's a process of exploring yourself. And I've been surprised how much you get to know about yourself and how it helps you in being a better actor. My first encounter with an acting class was at the School of Performing Arts in Clemson University in the USA. Later, while working for IBM in USA, I joined the evening classes for the Acting course and Advanced acting course at the Pittsburgh Filmmakers Institute. When I moved back to India I joined the 6 month course at the prestigious Roshan Taneja's Acting Studio.

3.    We have heard that you have been involved with the film beyond acting too. Pl comment.

Yes. My involvement with my first project "Perfect Mismatch" started much before the actual filming of the movie. I started writing the story for the movie while pretending to be working at the desk of my well-paying IBM job. The progression from the story to a screenplay happened on its own. It was like nourishing a baby that you've created. There are other bigger aspects of the film making beyond acting and writing that I was involved in as well. Will share those in due course of time.

4.    What is your take on "PERFECT MISMATCH"?

If you are one of those people out there who complain about good movies not being made anymore then this one is for you. The standard question asked is what is the USP of the film. I humbly believe that the USP of "PERFECT MISMATCH" is that it's a "good" movie.

5.    Why the name "PERFECT MISMATCH"?

The name fits the movie perfectly. Once you see it you'll agree. And it's a catchy name as well.

6.    This film was shot in just 27 days. How did you manage it?

A very good production team and creative team and a very well planned pre-production.

7.    What was the experience of working with Actors like Bomman Irani & Anupam Kher?

It was very fruitful learning experience. I had more scenes with Anupam Kher since he plays my uncle in the movie. As an actor you can't help but perform well when around good actors. Boman is a riot. His comic timing and how he becomes the character from head to toe is unbelievable. One most important thing that I can say I learn watching them was that they enjoyed playing their characters. A very obvious but important tip that actors should remember.

8.    How was your chemistry with Nandana Sen.

Nandana Sen is a very dedicated actor. She gets involved in the script beyond just her character which is a very strong attribute. I think we created a very good chemistry in the movie and have been appreciated for the same.

9.    Your Cinematographer Robert Mehnert is one of the top ones from Hollywood. Did the film need special handling?

Bob (as he is fondly called) is not only a great cinematographer but also a very nice human being. I believe it's the latter characteristic that makes it having him around just wonderful. His vast experience and knowledge brought a lot of credibility to the movie. I think his perfect equation with the Director Ajmal and the understanding of the project is responsible for the outstanding production quality of the film.

10.  Tell us in detail about the shoot. Any particular things you like to share?

---------------- - -  - -  - - -    -  - -  -

11.      What pulled you to the story of PERFECT MISMATCH?

They say matches are made in heaven. In real life there are Mismatches. And that's what makes the relationships exciting. The movie celebrates one such Mismatch of relationships that we all will relate to directly or indirectly have experienced in some form or another.
