As the Olympics has just begun, wrestler Sangram Singh will be seen as an expert on various news channels and programs as an expert, talking about wrestling. Sangram, who himself practices professional wrestling, will be the face of Olympic wrestling in India on television, as he will introduce the four male and one female freestyle wrestlers to the Indian viewers, making them familiar with their styles and fights as well as talk about their journey from the start till Olympics 2012. Excited about taking on this new role, Sangram says, "I wanted to do something for the sport that has given me so much in life. It is due to wrestling that people now know me and recognise me. I want recognition for my fellow wrestlers too and that's why I decided to take on this role." Talking about the wrestlers who have been selected for the Olympics, Sangram says, "Sushil Kumar, Amit Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt adn Narsingh Yadav -n female wrestle Geeta do these names ring a bell? Apart from Sushil Kumar, I don't think anyone will be aware of the fact that these wrestlers have made it to the London Olympics 2012. Itni mehnat karke yeh sab wrestler yahan tak pahuche hai, par logon ko unke baare mein kuch nahi pata. I want to eliminate this gap between wrestlers and our audience. Through this new role, I'll make sure that Indians get to know what wrestling is all about." Sangram, who started his career with Greco-Roman style of wrestling, was one of the top ten wrestlers in the world in that style, when he shifted towards professional wrestling. He was the Gold Medallist in the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship held in South Africa, and was later awarded with the World's Best Professional Wrestler Award by World Wrestling Fedration (WWP), South Africa. |
