Jalsa Tollywood Movie Review

A typical Trivikram material, the story begins with Sanju (Pawan) who is a drunkard to the core but then has brilliant academics and is a master fighter too. He is a cheerful person in the college and is surrounded by his group of friends (Ali, Uthej and others), however he fails in his love attempt when he approaches Indu
(Kamalini Mukherjee) father (Prakashraj), a police officer and is turned down. Meanwhile, his qualities attract the two friends Jyothsna (Parvathy) Bhagmati(Ileana) and both of them start hitting on Sanju. While Jo is the more aggressive and confident types, Bhagu is the more meek and innocent types and interestingly Sanju says no to Jo and after several attempts by Bhagu to get him, finally falls in love with her, however his attempts to woo Bhagu's father fail again, as he discovers that it is none other than the policeman and both Indu and Bhagmati are own sisters. On the other hand, there is the dreaded goon Damodar Reddy (Mukesh Rishi), who along with his chief commander Bulli Reddy (Tanikella) are desperately looking out for Sanju. Flashback reveals that, Sanju is actually Sanjay Sahu, son of a poor farmer and as fate would have it, his parents and brother die in quick successions and unable to take the frustration, he joins the naxalites and becomes a leader. Later, he comes out into the society to lead a peaceful life and in this process he happens to beat the pulp out of Damodar's son and also grab his lands. Hence the revenge seeking mission, what happens in the end? Does Sanju get Bhagu? Does Damodar get Sanju? What is the role of Pranav (Brahmanandam), all this forms the rest of the story.

Jalsa Telugu Cinema Review

Firstly, the director of a caliber, Trivikram must understand that the audience needs to get used to only one genre of the film, which was missing. The plot was interesting but then the presentation was not powerful and the narration lacked the real flavor which is required to build the excitement in the film. Script was loose and the screenplay was stale,The camera has been just about okay and the truth is, there is nothing visually great about the movie. The only saving grace is the excellent songs and some good background score and Devi sri has done full justice to his job. Pawan Kalyan who is desperately looking for a hit has been good in his dialogue delivery and expressions but then he must learn to stand stable and show that grit while doing the serious scenes otherwise, it looks like a casual and careless approach to the shot which takes the heat out of the situations. Ileana looked adorable as the dumb girl but the make up was too much on her which covered her real beauty. Parvathy is classy and simply has the air of royalty in her though the presence was limited. She really has it in her to make it to the levels of Katrina Kaif if she plays her cards carefully. Mukesh Rishi is powerful as the villain, but due to the role, he had nothing special to offer. Brahmanandam, Ali and Sunil gave the comedy track but it was not that convincing.

Jalsa Filem Review

It has been five years since Pawan has got a hit so when he is planning to come up with a desperate shot, he must be clear as to what has to be presented to the audience. The first half was entertaining with the comedy and romance angles but the second half looked like a crossword jumble with one scene having comedy and the following being a serious one. It is really amateur to see such a sequence of scenes. At one point, it becomes difficult to understand whether it is a comedy film or an action film or an entertaining film. The movie might make its money with the excellent marketing and hype created but the truth remains that it is by no means a movie that can be called a deserving hit for Pawan or the direction of Trivikram. The movie could have been a lot better if the makers worked on some basic thumb rules of script writing and editing and Pawan definitely needs to stand still with the serious ones or it becomes a rather ridiculous attempt than trying to make it look humorous.

Bharatstudent verdict : A passable entertainer!!! Nothing special but can be watched once.
