Story: A good tale
gone bad, the story begins with Vinayak (ajith) a cop who is on
suspension. He lives life in his own way and has got a lover in the form
of Sanjana (trisha) who is the daughter of a don Reddy (jayaprakash).
Then there is the tough cop ACP Prithvi (arjun) who is roped in to
investigate the suicide of a cop involving the betting mafia of IPL. The
story takes a turn when Reddy discovers that about Rs 500 crores is
coming to Mumbai for the IPL finals. However, his protégé Sumanth
(vaibhav) hatches a plan with his group (mahant, premgi amaran ashwin)
to steal the money. This is discovered by Vinayak and he joins the
group. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The
director has come up with a thoughtful storyline and while the
presentation was classy, the narrative was not strong. The dialogues
were average, the script was written okay and the screenplay was
inattentive. Background score was good and two songs were hummable.
Cinematography was the best. Editing was regular. Costumes were stylish
and trendy while the art department was rich. The film belongs to Ajith
who has shouldered it right from start to end, his three different forms
is a highlight. Trisha is there for songs and romance part but she
looks weak and boring. Arjun was elegant and he is the best bet for the
role. Jayaprakash was apt. Vaibhav made his presence felt. Ashwin,
Mahant, Premgi Amaran were good. Lakshmi Rai was sexy and provides the
required visual relief while Anjali was brief but sensuous. The others
did their bit as required and added value. |
Conclusion: The film
runs on the backdrop of cricket betting and though there are those
slight traces of the Hindi movie Jannat, this has been packaged in a
more entertaining way. While the first half goes about with the layering
of the plot and the various characters, the second half belongs to the
protagonist who was menacing. The film primarily suffers due to the slow
pace and dragged sequences without any requirement. There is no
seriousness where required and as such, the nativity factor was missing.
At the box office, it is hard for the film to survive.
