Chinthakayala Ravi Tollywood Movie Review

A repeated tale, the story begins on the backdrop of a small village in Andhra which has Seshu (Lakshmi) who boasts about her son Chintakayala Ravi (Venkatesh) who is in the US. She raves about him and goes around telling everyone that he is a software engineer in New York. The truth is Ravi happens to be a bar tender in one of the dance clubs and he does not reveal the real story since he is scared about losing his mom. Meanwhile, Seshu goes ahead and fixes Ravi's wedding with Ramchandraiah's (Sayaji) daughter Lavanya (Mamata) stating he is an IT professional. Lavanya agrees so that she can stay in the US and meet her close friend Sunitha (Anushka), meanwhile Sunitha chances upon Ravi in few instances and concludes that he is not a nice guy. She gets her chance when she discovers his real profession and as soon as Ravi goes to India to get married, all hell breaks loose and the wedding is called off. Ravi goes back to US with the sole mission of making Sunita clarify everything and he can marry Lavanya. Soon, the hatred between the two clears and Ravi decides to find a groom for Sunita. In this process, both of them end up falling in love with each other but do not express it. Just when they decide to do so, the background as to what made Ravi a bartender instead of a software engineer comes out in the village and Ramachandraiah decides to give Lavanya's hand to Ravi. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Chinthakayala Ravi Telugu Cinema Review

The director has attempted to come up with a comedy and sentimental plot but failed to execute it correctly. The presentation and the narration angles were not upto the mark and equally weak were the dialogues and the script. The screenplay lacked the luster and the music was fairly okay, cinematography was not that great and barring the costumes and few scenes here and there, overall the film lacked strength. Venkatesh did his best to give life to his role but the character was not that strongly etched out, same goes for Anushka and Mamata but the brighter side is Anushka looked really elegant and Mamata was sweet in her traditional garbs. Sayaji Shinde, Ajay, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav, Srinivas Reddy, Ali, Dharmavarapu and the list goes on but then none of them have got any scope to come out with their real talent. Sunil managed few laughs and fitted well in the role while M S was okay. Lakshmi was over dramatic as usual and the others did their bit mechanically.

Chinthakayala Ravi Filem Review

The idea of linking the village and trying to relate to the software glamour was appealing from outside but the plot was not conceived correctly on the screen. The dialogues were a major drawback and the technical values were equally low. While the first half was more on the lighter vein with the regular Venky comedy and songs, it is the second half that takes a dramatic turn and turns into an emotional and sentimental treat. However, the emotion was missing. It would be difficult for the film to get away with success and perhaps a gentle push will take it to an average mark.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Stale entertainer, not tasty...
