Baava Tollywood Movie Review

Story:
A good tale gone bad, the story begins with Veera Babu (siddarth) who lives in the green village of Venkatapuram. His father Sitaram (rajendra prasad) dotes on him and supports him at all times. Veera Babu along with his friends does a lot mischief in his village. His life takes a turn when he sees Varalakshmi (pranitha) in the neighbouring village. However, her father (ahuti prasad) believes in status and wants to get her married to Ramana (samrat). But then, there is a link between Veera Babu and Varalakshmi which goes a long way back and at the same time, even Sitaram has something to do with Varalakshmi's family. What are all those links and how things take shape forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a routine tale and though the presentation was good, the anrative was not uto the mark. The dialgoeus were nice, the script was okay and the screenplay could have been better. Background score was alright and two songs were worth taking home. Cinematography is the major highlight. Editing was needed at key places. Costumes didn't have much to do while the art department and locations were impressive. Siddarth has come up with a committed performance and he has done his job well. Pranitha looks sexy but more than that, it is her homely face that makes her the perfect fit. Rajendra Prasad was not used to his fullest. Ahuti was regular, Tanikella was alright, Sameer was mean, Brahmi and Ali comedy track failed to work, the real comedy came from the gang of Prasad, Venu and others.

Conclusion:
The film starts off as a complete comedy entertainer but it suffers due to lack of content and depth in key scenes. While the first half was promising with ample comedy and fast paced narration, it is the second half which goes completely down and it spirals with boredom, unwanted melodrama, irrelevant climax. The technical values of the film were good and the performances were alright but the makers should have focused on the story especially during the second half. At the box office, the openings will be good but this will not appeal.
