Yogi Kollywood Movie Review
A raw tale, the story is set on the backdrop of a slum in Chennai and here is Yogi (ameer) who lives with his friends. He earns his livelihood from doing small thefts, robberies and also murders if necessary. During one such robbery incident, he steals a car and discovers that there is a baby left in it. Something tells him to take the baby and he gets it to Sulochana (madhumitha), a young mother who is deserted by her lover. She takes care of the baby and in no time, Yogi undergoes a change himself. However, the real mother (swathi) of the baby wants her child back and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Yogi Tamil Cinema Review
The director has come up with a realistic theme and both the narration and the presentation are good. The dialogues were sensible, the script was tight and the screenplay was adept. Background score adds to the moods and the songs are touching. Cinematography was excellent and the art department was top notch. Costumes were truthful but action sequences were quite cruel. Ameer has shown that there is a good actor in him as well, he scores good. Madhumitha gave a wonderful performance as well. Snehan was standard, Vincent Ashokan was apt, Swathi was neat, the others did their bit as required.
Yogi Filem Review
The film has got a very intense feel throughout and it could be that not all genre of audience would be able to see such hard hitting stuff. However, the first half of the movie goes smoothly and the second half has got enough twists that tend to jerk the emotions in a big way. The film could have been lot better if the gore during fights was reduced. Overall, it still appeals and has enough flavor for the serious audience. Commercially, it would make its money and will run well with the masses.
Bharatstudent Verdict: Hard hitting yet touching
