Yaavarum Nalam Kollywood Movie Review

Story:
A good tale gone long, the story begins with the newly moved family of Manohar (Maddy) along with his wife (Neetu), brother (Hari Nair), his wife (Ameetha) along with his mother (Saranya). Incidentally, the flat number is 13-B and it is on the thirteenth floor. Manohar is a regular higher middle class kind of guy with metro thoughts and while he gets on with his job, the ladies at home begin to get glued to a new show on the TV titled 'Yaavarum Nalam'. Interestingly, whatever keeps happening on the show begins to happen even at Manohar's home. So life gets hunky dory just like the way it does in the show, but soon the downslide begins and horrible things begin to happen on the show and a similar result is seen in Manohar's home too. He discovers that it has something to do with the place and gets in touch with Dr Balu (Sachin) who deals with paranormal subjects. In also enters the cop Shiva (Ravi Babu) to sort out the mystery. Does Manohar manage to solve the situation and save his family? All this forms the rest of the story.

Yaavarum Nalam Tamil Cinema Review

Presentation:
The director came up with an interesting concept but then the narrative was eternal which misfired, however the presentation was top notch. While the dialogues were not upto mark, the script was better but then the length of it was truly demanding. Screenplay was alright in parts, music was exceptional in the background department but songs were unnecessary. Full marks to the cinematography which was the life and soul of the movie and the editing could have done a much better job by clipping the length in a big way. Costumes were good, art department did a neat job. Coming to the cast, Madhavan came up with a remarkable performance and this is perhaps one of his best ones. Neetu looked alright, Ravi Babu was apt, Saranya looked the perfect choice for the role, Sachin Khedekar created an impact, a show stealer performance came from Hari Nair, others did not have much to do.

Conclusion:
The film is a complete horror treat and the eerie feeling is there at few instances but the major setback for this has been its length. Atleast twenty minutes of the movie was not called her and if that was absent, it would have been a true shocker. While the first half goes about with the regular happy tales it is just before the interval that things begin to get spooky, the second half is good but then the climax really spills water once the truth is revealed since a lot of time is spent beating around the bush to come up with it and increasing expectations. Patience is tested during second half. The film might appeal to a few but there will be mixed response at the box office, not a smooth one to score a hit though.
