Story:
An old tale, the story begins on the backdrop of foreign locations and here is one man who goes by the name of Pugazh (Vijay) and having the strength of all possible superheroes since he is seen defying gravity at all times in his pursuit of baddies. Apparently, he is a tough guy set to eliminate the baddies and he has only one mission to locate and destroy JD (Prakashraj), a famous arms dealer and his gang (Sriman, Anandhraj, Devaraj). Pugazh gets trained by a sincere cop Joseph (Manoj K Jayan) in his mission. Apparently, the flashback has Pugazh's father major Saravanan (Vijay again) who is a brave and honest officer but is framed by JD and his men since he stops them from supplying weapons to the terrorists. Saravanan loses his honor and also his life in the process and from then on it is Pugazh who is seeking the blood of those involved. Meanwhile, he comes to a village to attend a wedding and chances upon Jahnavi (Nayan). As fate would have it, they both fall in love and later Pugazh realizes that Jahnavi is the daughter of JD and together they go to Munich to meet him. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a regular storyline which is centuries old but then he has excelled in the presentation. However, the narrative has lost out on many points. The script had loose ends, the screenplay was effective but not upto the level of expectation. Dialogues were witty, music was perfect with the peppy numbers and the camera department deserves a special pat on the back. Editing could have been better in this one. The locations were excellent and the costumes were worth every penny. The comedy track consumes a fair share and does not lead to boredom. Vijay has yet again proved that he is the best when it comes to dance, stunts, emotions so he did his dual role bit very well. Nayan was extra glamorous and her skimpy outfits and chiffon sarees were a visual feast. Prakashraj was regular, Manoj K Jayan was apt, Srimaan, Anandharaj and Devaraj were evil enough. Vadivelu was a show stealer when it came to his part and he has surely scored success in comedy. The others like Ranjitha, Geetha and others do their bit to contribute.

Conclusion:
The film happens to be a remake of the Bollywood film 'Soldier' and just like the original, even the Tamil version did not have anything special in the story. The plot was quite predictable so it all relied on the tight script and screenplay for things to happen. While the first half was more on the comedy and romance track with the regular Vijay masala, the second half takes an action streak and there is a lot of intense sentiment and emotion overflowing till the climax gets over. The film has been prepared with a complete image of Vijay in mind but then care should have been taken on the story front. This would have really ensured a success of greater magnitude, otherwise it is just an ordinary treat content wise.
Bharatstudent verdict: A complete Vijay fare, his fans will relish it. |
