Vellitherai Kollywood Movie Review

Story:
A realistic cinema, the film starts with two friends Saravanan (Prithviraj) and Kannaiya (Prakashraj) both good friends and aiming to become something big in the film industry. While Saravanan is a hard working, committed and talented individual looking at becoming a director, Kannaiya is a middle aged, stout person who believes in becoming a hero despite his drawbacks and spends ten years meeting up with producers for a break. He does not hesitate to resort to anything to become a star and gets his chance when he flicks the script of Saravanan and becomes a hit hero in his debut film, thanks to the powerful script. He becomes a star in no time and changes from Kannaiya to Dilipkanth and starts throwing around his weight and starry tantrums all around. Meanwhile, Saravanan is met with constant failures in his professional front and even personally, the top actress Mythili (Gopika) who loves him dearly parts ways with him. Shattered and completely depressed, Saravanan thinks on calling it quits when the producer (Sarath Babu) who gives break to Kannaiya decides to give Saravanan a chance. But he puts in a condition that the film will star Dilipkanth. Saravanan agrees and then comes the tug of war between the two friends and the director being the more docile is unable to take all the humiliation. What happens in the end? Who becomes successful forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
Director Viji needs to be given full credit for his debut effort which has presented a subject in its utmost reality mixed with entertainment. His narration was good when required and presentation supported him well too. The technical department deserves special credit since the camerawork, the lighting, editing, music have all contributed well to the film. Prithviraj came across as a perfect match in the form of a sober yet talented director; Gopika was good as his leading lady. Sarath Babu, Charles, Sampath Raj added very well to their roles. Lakshmi Rai came across as a true beauty and a glamorous actress. The real show stealer was Prakash Raj yet again who has come with a high octane performance and showed the transition of human nature impeccably. He can surely carry the entire film with his presence on screen.

Conclusion:
A thought provoking film which tends to show the other side of the silver screen, the subject has been handled well and shows the realistic touch to film world and its glitz. The first half shows the natural course of life for both protagonists and the second half shows how twists and turns in life take place and the ultimate result. Though this may not serve much for those who want some fun and entertainment without any links to what happens inside, it surely makes you think to an extent to understand what happens in the colorful world of cinema.

Bharatstudent Verdict : A well thought and well presented film, can be watched for its realistic flavor and good acting.
