Velayudham Kollywood Movie Review

A remake tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Pavanoor village in Tamil Nadu. Here lives Velayudham (vijay) a milk vendor who has a sister Kaveri (saranya mohan) and a cousin Vaidehi (hansika). Velu dotes on Kaveri and showers her with affection while Vaidehi is crazy about Velu. The story takes a turn when Velu comes to the city to withdraw his savings from the bank for Kaveri's wedding. On the other hand, there is Bharathi (genelia), a television journalist who creates a rumour that there is a masked man called Velayudham who will wipe out crime and kill the criminals. A sequence of events happens and Velu is compelled to take the role of Velayudham. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Velayudham Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a routine storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was the highlight. The dialogues were filled with required punch and mass flavour. The script was written well and the screenplay was adequate. Background score was good and all songs were hummable. Cinematography was top notch. Locations were mesmerizing. Editing was matured but it was required during the second half. Costumes were natural and while the art department was suiting the moods and deserves applause. Vijay has come up with an apt performance and he would be a treat to his fans. Hansika looks pretty as usual and she also gives good performance in few scenes. Genelia as usual is glamorous and filled with energy. Saranya Mohan was sweet. Santhanam was a highlight with his comedy. Sayaji Shinde was standard, Manivannan was moderate, M S Bhaskar was mediocre.

Velayudham Filem Review

The film happens to be the remake of the Telugu hit Azaad but then it has not missed out on the nativity aspect. As such, there is nothing special in the storyline and the plot is predictable. The first half passes off smoothly with the regular elements of romance, comedy and songs. The second half gets into the twists but then the pace comes down due to dragged sequences and unwanted songs. Overall, this is a film which has been made with perfect formula and the execution was good. At the box office, the mass audience and Vijay fans will applaud it so commercial success looks possible.
