Story:

A typical masala treat, the story begins on the backdrop of Madurai when two friends Kottaisamy (Jiiva) and his friend Vellaiyan (Kanja) decide to come to Chennai in the search of a career. But due to their lack of education, they are unable to find any opening and finally they land up in the den of Kailasam (Ravi Kale), the dreaded gangster. The duo's job is to maintain and supply the weapons for the gang and though they don't like it, the need for survival gets them into this. Life goes on smoothly until Kottai meets Gayatri (Poonam), an orphan and as expected they fall in love. However, Kailasam's son Santosh (Sabeer) who is an evil womanizer sets his eyes on Gayatri and tries to misbehave with her. Kottai bashes up Santosh and he ends up in hospital in a bad shape, Kottai goes and confesses the act to Kailasam and in no time Santosh dies. Kailasam goes mad with fury and decides to put an end to the lovers. Kottai and Gayatri seek refuge in a temple at Koothandavar temple where the eunuchs gather for their annual worship. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with a typical commercial subject and though the narrative was alright, the presentation was pale at few instants. The script had few weak links and the screenplay was poor, the editing could have been better. However, the camerawork was good most of the time and the music had enough mass appeal. Dialogues had the typical punch flavor and the pace of the film could have been better. Jiiva has come out with a completely different role from his earlier movies and has carried it out very well. Poonam looks as beautiful as ever and she has shown a lot of potential. Ravi Kale was evil enough while Sabeer could have been better. Kanja Karuppu was a letdown with his comedy and the others did not have much to do this time.

Conclusion:

The film has nothing new to offer and this is the ideal treat for the core front benchers. While the first half of the movie goes around with the protagonist working for the villain and putting up with everything, the second half is about how he opposes and takes up the challenge so as such there was nothing creative or different and the entire story was predictable right from the start. For such a film, a perfect screenplay is essential but that has not happened this time. Commercially, the film might do some business at the B and C centers but apart from that there is nothing special about this.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Pure mass and commercial treat, barely passable entertainer.
