Thangam Kollywood Movie Review

A routine masala affair, 'Thangam' is the story of Thangam (Satyaraj) who is the son of Rajendranath, a very well noted man in a small town near Coimbatore. On similar grounds is Mahadevan who hails from a known background but fails to earn the respect that Rajendranath has due to his son Aaruchami (Shanmugaraj). Thangam is very closely attached to his sister Bhagyalakshmi (Jayasree) and on the other hand Bhagya finalizes a very beautiful girl (Megha Nair) so that Thangam can get married to her. Thangam's uncle is Kaalai (Goundarmani). Trouble begins when the local MLA who is an evil element and cannot stand the popularity of Rajendranath joins hands with Aaruchami who is a known womanizer and ensures Aaruchami lures Bhagyalakshmi into an affair and makes her pregnant. In order to see that the marriage happens between the two, Thangam takes over the murder committed by Aaruchami and goes to jail. Meanwhile, Mahadevan gets the devil into his head and fights against Rajendranath and successfully makes Aaruchami as the MLA. In this process, both Rajendranath and Bhagyalakshmi are killed. How Thangam reacts to this? Will he take a revenge or just let it go? All this forms the rest of the film.

Thangam Tamil Cinema Review

Kicha has come across as a very practical director as he has not ventured into any experiments and clearly had what he wanted to show on screen. His presentation of the subject was good and narrated it well which matched the script. Srikanth Deva was usual with his trademark folk scores and background score and the camera work is acceptable. This is just like any other day for actor Satyaraj who carried out the role without any issues and the one to look out for is definitely Goundamani who made a comeback of sorts and proved that he has not lost the charm at all. Megha Nair was decent with nothing much to offer. Bala Singh did well as the evil politician.

Thangam Filem Review

A straight forward routine subject that had the usual doses of action, comedy and sentiment, it made its mark through the tacky script and some directorial brilliance. The entire film goes on smoothly keeping the audience in loop and has enough elements to make sure it finds its appeal to all sections of the viewers. The brother- sister affection sentiment will work its way though for the next few weeks and with the star value of Satyaraj a hit looks imminent. The film has been handled in a different way though the theme is a known one.

Bharatstudent verdict: A predictable entertainer!! Watch it for Goundamani and the script!!
