Thambivudayaan Kollywood Movie Review
A thought provoking tale, the story begins on the backdrop of a village in Thanjavur district which is currently suffering from a drought situation. The village head (nizhalgal ravi) is a kind hearted man who wants to help the suffering peasants and equally noble is his son Thambivudayaan (aditya) who is studying in college. Apparently, his grandfather (charu) is a freedom fighter who commits suicide unable to bear the hardships faced by the farmers. Despite repeated pleas and urges, the state minister Velayudham (dhandapani) doesn't bother to come to the rescue despite being from the same district. Thambivudayaan decides to teach a lesson to the minister and get the work done. How does he do that forms the rest of the story.
Thambivudayaan Tamil Cinema Review
The director has taken a good issue as the theme but then his narrative went wrong due to unwanted elements. The presentation is alright with dialogues being average, the script had few flaws but the screenplay was better. Background score was alright and not much from the songs. Cinematography captured the rustic locations well. Editing could have been better at few places. Costumes were apt and the art department was natural. Aditya Anbu has proved himself in all departments, Nizhalgal Ravi was elegant, Charu Haasan was brief but made his presence felt, Kadhal Dhandapani was evil enough, Manisha Chatterjee provided the glamour feast and did her bit well. The others contributed and gave value to the film.
Thambivudayaan Filem Review
The makers have taken up the issue of the drought situation and this was effective but eventually, they slid into the commercial elements of the film which became routine. The first half of the film takes off on a bright note but with the focus on the heroics of the protagonist. The film could have been a lot better if they could mix the issue with the story and it would have given some relevance to the audience instead of turning out to be a regular movie. The mass audience might have few things to relate to but otherwise it would be a mediocre affair at the box office.
Bharatstudent Verdict: Good thought but could have been better.
