Soorya Nagaram Kollywood Movie Review
Story: A routine tale of love, the story begins with Vetrivel (rahul) who falls in love with Tamilselvi (meera). However, Meera's father Kathirvel (udhayakumar) happens to be the chief of a very powerful community in Madurai. As expected, he discards this affair and decides to get Tamilselvi married to a distant relative. However, both Vetrival and Tamilselvi decide to elope and their plans are discovered by Kathirvel. He hatches a plan to stop the duo at any cost and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:  The director has come up with a routine storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was just average. The dialogues were written with some depth. The script was average and the screenplay was predictable. Background score was passable and only one song is worth humming. Cinematography was upto the mark. Editing was required at crucial scenes. Costumes were regular while the art department was natural and suited the moods. Rahul has come up with a sincere performance and contributes. Meera looks naturally pretty and her performance was also apt. Udhayakumar walks away with the limelight thanks to his riveting performance. Kanja Karuppu tries to bring few smiles. Senthil was standard. Parotta Suri was adequate. This is the last film of veteran S N Lakshmi. The others didn't have much scope.

Conclusion:  Love stories between boy and girl of different castes and their elders opposing it in all possible ways has been routine. Though the director attempts to come up with a different treatment to this plot it didn't have much of an impact. The first half goes about with the regular elements of romance and songs. The second half goes about with the various challenges the pair faces and the usual climax to any love story. Overall, this is a film which doesn't have anything new to offer barring few fine performances. At the box office, this could be a below average grosser.
