Siruthai Kollywood Movie Review

Story:
A fast paced entertainer, the story begins with a careless youngster Rocket Raja (karthi) who is a small time thief and he also has an accomplice in the form of Kaatupoochi (santhanam). He also has a lover in the form of a gullible beauty (tamannah). However, his life takes a turn when a young girl comes and calls him as daddy. A little enquiry reveals that this girl is the daughter of the tough cop Ratnavel Pandian (karthi) who is a nightmare to the villains but he is dead now. Rocket Raja and Pandian have similar looks and now Raja has to become Pandian to handle the villains. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was okay. The dialogues were good at places, the script was average and the screenplay was effective. Background score was good but songs were even better. Cinematography is appealing. Editing was okay but it could have been sharp at the required places. Costumes were apt while the art department was good. Karthi has given a very good performance in both roles and showed versatility. Tamannah is a visual delight and she satisfies with her presence. Santhanam brought few smiles while Megha Nair looks sensuous. Rajiv Kanakala was good. The others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:
The film happens to be the remake of the Telugu super hit movie 'Vikramarkudu' but then few changes have been made to suit the taste of the Tamil audience. While the first half was all entertaining with comedy, romance and songs, the second half gets serious and has action sequences. Technically, the film is well made but content could have been more gripping. Overall this is a treat for the masses and could be a decent grosser at the box office.
