Singayil Gurushetram Kollywood Movie Review
Story:
Based on the backdrop of Singapore, the story begins with Prakash (vishnu) and his disabled brother Subra whose mother goes to jail on drug trafficking charges. She gets executed and with nowhere else to go, the brothers go to their uncle Vinod (sivakumar) who has a narcotic business. In no time, both boys grow up and Prakash becomes the leader for the drug ring. However, inspector Anbarasan (madhiazhagan) vows to put an end to the gang and closes in. Vinod suspects the presence of an informant within the gang. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a thought provoking storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was tight. The dialogues were deep, the script was well written and the screenplay was average. Background score was alright but songs were not that strong. Cinematography was alright. Editing was okay. Costumes were natural while the art department was appealing. Vishnu has come up with an effective performance and he was good, Prakash gave a riveting performance. Sivakumar was impressive. Madhiazhagan was moderate. The others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:
This is the first Tamil film which has been made entirely in Singapore and that too with Singapore Tamilians. The subject chosen was also practical as Singapore has very strict laws for drug trafficking. While the first half takes off on a mild note, the second half picks up some speed. However, there were few hiccups at key points which takes away the momentum. The makers must be appreciated for their honest efforts and came up with a decent result. At the box office, this will click in Singapore due to the hype but will be average in India.
