Sila Nerangalil Kollywood Movie Review

A reincarnation thriller, the story starts with a girl (Navya Nair) who has nightmares of getting killed in a backdrop which goes many years back which results in her losing her speech. She is under the care and protection of Jo (Vincent Ashokan) who is in charge of the home for the rehabilitation of physically and mentally challenged. Jo starts developing love for the girl and names her Anjali. Unable to see the plight that Anjali is going through, Jo decides to get in psychiatrist Krishnan (Raghuvaran), an expert in hypnotherapy. Krishnan starts his counseling on Anjali and during the hypnotic sessions, they discover that Anjali has taken a reincarnation and she was indeed murdered by her husband in the year 1965 since he suspects her having an illicit affair with the then famous singer Madhavan (Vineeth). Anjali reveals all the details in shock and in this process gets back her speech. The sessions also reveal that the husband is none other than Jo who is also reincarnated and now Anjali starts getting paranoid that he would attempt at killing her again. Meanwhile, Krishnan starts counseling Jo and in his past journeys he realizes that he is not responsible for the murder. Unable to bear the torment and the guilt, Jo sets out on a mission to uncover the mystery behind the murder that happened so many years ago. Does he discover the true killer? How does he get to the tracks of history , all this forms the rest of the story.

Sila Nerangalil Tamil Cinema Review

Malayalam director Jayaraj who is known to come up with some real good films in the Kerala industry has again proved that he has enough mettle in the Tamil region too. His approach towards the subject was intelligent and has kept the momentum on with a pace in the presentation and racy narration. The script was handled deftly since it involved reincarnation mixed with the element of murder mystery.  Jayaraj has been well supported in the other departments with some gripping background score and scintillating music. Editing is equally competent with some smart clippings. Credit must be given to the art director for bringing alive the time of the 50s and 60s to the audience. Coming to the cast, Vincent Asokan was good with his role as a caring romantic and a suspicious husband. Navya Nair added a lot to the glamour and the beauty in the film and her expression with eyes was good enough to convey the message. Raghuvaran was classy as the Psychiatrist while Vineet suited best for the age of the singers. The others carried out their role with the required standards.

Sila Nerangalil Filem Review

An interesting subject on reincarnation which has blended well with the murder mystery, a combination of the 60s and the present times was shown nicely. While the first half got off to a good pacy start, the tempo continued even in the second half which gave the audience an edge of the seat nail biter. The makers must be appreciated for the bold move to come up with an offbeat theme in contrast to the regular mainstream. The film will find its way to the end line with decent profits and happy smiles for those involved.

Bharatstudent verdict : Worth watching!! A good mix of suspense, surprise and sentiment!!
