Satrumun Kidaitha Thagaval Kollywood Movie Review

A predictable tale, the story begins with Shiva (Kannan) who is currently in the mental asylum and this happens due to the fact that his long time sweetheart Thenmozhi (Meenakshi) takes his help completely to become a heroine and once she gets there, Shiva gets dumped. He loses his mind and is put in the mental asylum. He gets treated under the supervision of Dr Radha (Khushbu). Soon, he gets relieved and heads straight to the house of Thenmozhi who is a big name now. He manages to get inside but then a small tiff takes place and in the next place, she is found dead. Soon, a series of murders take place and all fingers lead to the direction of Shiva. He manages to reach the house of Dr Radha only to see Meera (Anjali) , her daughter, there. She does not let him in but Shiva finds his way through. A very surprising twist takes place from here and what happens next forms the rest of the story.

Satrumun Kidaitha Thagaval Tamil Cinema Review

The director attempted to come out with a cryptic plot but then the presentation was a bit off track and the narrative was more on a commercial tone which spoiled the momentum. The dialogues were barely okay, the script had many flaws and the screenplay was just about acceptable. The music failed, the camera could have been better. Editing was numb and the other departments need no mention here. Kannan came up with very good action sequences and stunts given his forte but then his acting needs to go a long way. Meenakshi was sexy, Anjali was apt, Khushbu made her mark though her role was limited but the real show stealer was K S Ravi Kumar who came in as a cop and began investigating in a rather tough role. The others were just okay.

Satrumun Kidaitha Thagaval Filem Review

Conclusion :

The film was ideally meant to be a murder mystery and it would have been that way had the maker not got into commercial aspects. The songs were a major diversion and that too the spice and the item number appeal distorted the genre. While the first half goes about with the regular tale of twists and murders, it is the second half where the plot has to unravel but then the pace is missed out and the climax has a bumpy landing. The film will find it hard to run given the lack of quality in presentation and screenplay so only a push here and there might help it to get a decent mark.

Bharatstudent Verdict: A passable treat, nothing special about it.
