Sanda Kollywood Movie Review

A perfect masala potboiler, the story begins with Thangalakshmi (Nadhiya) who is a filthy rich woman living in Bangkok and now has only aim in life - to seek her vengeance on her brother Palpandi (Lal Alex) who was responsible for her husband's death few years ago. She wants to take revenge by getting her pretty daughter Abhinaya (Ragini) getting married to a very rich boy with equal status and that too in the home town of Coimbatore, the same place where her brother lives. But then as soon as she lands up, Palpandi starts causing trouble to her and is keen on getting Abhi married to his son. Unable to take all this, Thangalakshmi hires a goon Kaththi (Sundar C) to protect her family from Palpandi and from then on many efforts by Palpandi are thwarted by Kaththi. Finally, the day arrives when the marriage is about to happen like she wishes but at the last moment the boy's family backs out citing the violence and the bloodshed they have seen in the family. Thangalakshmi does not waste a moment and insists Kaththi to marry Abhi and he agrees after much reluctance. Now, a shocking truth is revealed when Thangalakshmi realizes that Kaththi is actually the son of Palpandi and on the other hand Kaththi wants to prove to her that his dad is not the killer and it was someone else. The same time the real killers arrive on the scene and what happens next forms the essence of the story.

Sanda Tamil Cinema Review

Right from the word go, the director made it very clear that this is a 100% masala flick and when it is a masala flick, the subject loses importance, the narration is without rhythm and the presentation will be without logic. Though there are many loose ends on the screenplay, the mass movies are known to contain such elements. The music was just about okay and there is nothing talented in the camerawork or the editing. Sundar C fitted well as the thug and has a pure mass image, Nadhiya looked elegant but theatrical, Ragini oozed out glamour wherever required, Namitha who is busy trying to seduce Kaththi has enough oomph to satisfy the hunger of mass audience, Vivek's comedy was obscene and the others were just about okay.

Sanda Filem Review

Not much can be mentioned about a mass flick since the whole film is all about few songs, fights, sentiment, glamour and that's it, the film is made. Things like script, screenplay and other technical aspects don't stand much value. However, the film might find its appeal to the core front benchers and if propagated correctly, there will be enough money for the makers.

Bharatstudent verdict : Strictly for mass audience!!!
