Ragavan Kollywood Movie Review

A good line made bad, the story is about Ragavan (Vijith) who hails from a small village and comes to Chennai to become an IT professional. He has a dark past as he sees his father killing his mother and her lover. Since then, he gets disturbed badly and to add to the woes, the aunt that he stays with in Chennai sexually abuses him. Ragavan gets away from there and starts doing odd jobs. Soon, his neighbour Divya (Radhika) who is a model falls in love with him. Meanwhile, Ragavan becomes an auto driver in the night and a tea supplier in the day but then he develops hatred for those who lead immoral sexual lives. Soon, a spate of killings began to happen and in comes ACP Lakshmipathy (Manoj) to investigate. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Ragavan Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with some interesting storyline but then he has not been able to present it well or even narrate it convincingly. The dialogues were dull, the script was written shoddily, the screenplay was just okay, music and cinematography failed to impress and editing was absolutely raw. Coming to the act, the biggest drawback was the lead pair. Vijith looked very weak and did not have energy in his performance, Radhika was looking good but she still needs to work on her body language and expressions. Manoj K Jayan was good, Moonar Ramesh did justice to his role. The others didn't have much to do.

Ragavan Filem Review

The film is slated to be a psycho thriller but then it fails to engage the audience at a single point. While the first half goes about with the dark past and the psychological disorders, the second half goes with a rather unconvincing tale of climax. Poor performances and below standard technical values have made a mess of what could have been an interesting treat. Perhaps, this will be more of a learning experience for the makers.
