Perumal Kollywood Movie Review

Story:

A routine commercial tale, the story begins in the backdrop of a hospital where a dreaded mafia network is minting money by adulterating drugs at a larger profit. Soon, this is discovered by a junior doctor (Meenakshi) and this fact is known by the bad guys also who are led by the evil man (Kota). Soon, a chase begins to hunt the doctor and kill her but as fate would have it, she gets into the deep dark alleys only to bump against the hero (Sundar C).  However, he is a small time thug himself and believes in stealing and looting to make a living. This time, the doctor's helplessness awakens the angel in him and he begins to bring the baddies down to justice. How he manages to do that forms the rest of the story.

Perumal Tamil Cinema Review

Presentation:

The director wanted to come up with a strong message but he adulterated the story with the inclusion of commercial elements and other unwanted stuff. The script was loose, the dialogues lacked the punch, the screenplay was somewhat okay. Music was a major letdown and missed the beats, cinematography was above average, editing was required to be more sequential. The other departments were barely okay. Sundar came up with a decent performance but this was contrasting to his image, Meenakshi was pretty and did her bit as the damsel in distress. Namitha was purely for the extra oomph and steamy songs, Kota was not utilized to the fullest, Vivek's comedy failed to shine in this one. The others were present and contributed their bit.

Conclusion:

The film could have been a fast paced thriller had the makers focused on the script and the plot alone instead of making it a commercial venture. Also, the absence of the Sundar C fun which is a major strength to his image was missing completely and it was a bit of surprise to see him in this contrasting image. While the first half went about with the elements of chases, the second half got more diverted due to the mass elements and the regular filmy touches. The entire momentum of the movie got spoiled because of this so it is now left to fate and time to see how the audience will take this one.
