Pazhani Kollywood Movie Review

Story:
As usual, Perarasu comes up with his routine commercial potboiler but this time it is not much to talk about. The hero (Bharath) is jailed when he is barely ten after he is convicted of killing his father's paramour, who made his mother's life hell. After 15 years he comes out of jail only to find his sister (Khushboo) in distress. She is married to an anti social element (Biju Menon) who has a respectable profile in the society. The hero sets out to restore decorum in his sister's life, saves her from a scheming woman (Aishwarya), who actually is the 'Keep' of his father, finds time to romance his ladylove (Kajal), brings about the enlightenment in his brother-in-law and atlast goes back to jail after his heroic deeds.

Presentation:
Perarasu must understand that gone are the days when all the audience need is mindless commercial masala, days have changed and so have the times, he must realize that logic and common sense are essential at some point. The plot is all about saving women, Mother and then sister from their respective spouses and their mistresses. There is nothing in the name of logic. There are too many fight sequences and the love tracks are boring. Khushboo, ever the bankable actor delivers yet another stalwart performance. Bharath seems to be trying hard to get into the action hero brigade. Newcomer Kajal is bubbly in her debut attempt, but has nothing much to offer in terms of acting and Aishwarya is wasted in her role. Chittibabu adds the comic element but the comedy is not noteworthy. Biju Menon's portrayal of a villain is credible. Cinematography and other technical aspects are average. The music is loud and forgettable.

Conclusion:
Perarasu did not set out to make a movie for a thinking audience. The film is his attempt to make another masala flick, an entertainer that is devoid of any logic and/or novelty. There are some loose ends to the movie and before the audience even has the time to think why this is happening, two more shots come in the screen and they end up getting confused. Though it may have found its appeal in the mass audience, there are some pressure points where they snap too. Bharath needs to be more careful about his brand image if he really wants to get into the action arena and this is not the choice for him. The film does not have much to take it to more than 3 weeks at the most.

Bharatstudent verdict:

Go for it only if you want to leave your brains behind and love the Perarasu style of film making.
