A well knit tale, the story begins on the backdrop of a village at a school where Anbu (kishore) has got rivalry with Jeeva (Sriram). However, Anbu wants to forget all that and make friends with Jeeva but that latter turns it down, he happens to be the son of the school headmaster. Things take a turn with the arrival of Manonmani (Dharini) and in no time, she gets close to Anbu which irks Jeeva even more. To add to all this Anbu starts doing very well in his studies and also all the other activities making him a very popular guy. In no time, their families get involved and start clashing with each other. But all this takes a turn when Meenakshi Sundaram (Vimal), the uncle of Anbu falls in love with Jeeva's sister Sobikannu (Vega). This brings the two families together but then Anbu and Jeeva are not at all happy with the decision. What happens in the end forms the rest of the story.
The director has come up with a rather interesting storyline and the credit goes to his narration aided by a decent presentation. The script has been written well and the screenplay was also effective. Dialogues were entertaining and more than the songs, the background score was quite captivating. Cinematography captured the village backdrop impressively and editing was also crisp. The locales and the costumes were also fitting to the theme and story. The icing on the cake has been the performances and while Kishore topped the list with his brilliant act, Sriram was equally competent. Dharini again was natural and had poise. Among the grown ups, Vega stole the show with her countryside belle act while Vimal was apt. An eye must be cast over Pandian as he has come across as a revelation. The others contributed upto the required standard.
In these days of hard core masala films and commercial entertainers, it was really refreshing to see this theme coming up. While the first half goes about with the building of the plot and the etching of the characters, the second half gets into the story and takes it to a neat culmination. Though there were few hiccups here and there which went against the film, overall it has been a good one. Appreciation to the makers for coming up with the courage to present such a theme during these times. This will be a profit grosser.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Rustic and realistic, worth a watch
