Paradesi Kollywood Movie Review
Story:
A hard hitting tale, the story begins with Rasa (atharva) a carefree young man who is doted by his grandmother. Meanwhile, one of the village girl Angamma (vedhicka) falls in love with Rasa and they both make love. But Rasa’s grandmother is not happy because he is jobless. So he goes to the next village and gets a job. He also becomes friends with Maragadham (dhansika) who has got a child. But a twist in the tale occurs as the job in the tea plantation turns out to be a place of slavery. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a realistic storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was intense.  The dialogues were natural. The script was above average but the screenplay was gripping. The background score was haunting and two songs were worth listening. Cinematography was rich.  Editing was required at few places. Costumes were raw and rustic and suited the occasion while the art department was excellent. Adharvaa has come up with an astounding performance and he scores. Vedhicka has given a competent act. Dhansika was sensuous and very real. Jerry was perfect. Vikas was natural. Ritwika was neat.

Conclusion:
The film has been made based on the book ‘The Red Tea’ written by Paul Harris Daniel and it deals with pre-independence era and the path of slavery. While the first half has been filled with elements of romance, humour and some entertainment the second half gets utterly serious and very tragic. The climax is very gut wrenching and it is usually not for the entertainment seeking audience. Overall, this is a film which is meant for serious and thinking audience and success is written at the box office.

Bharatstudent verdict:
