Padikathavan Kollywood Movie Review

A commercial potboiler, the story is about Radhakrishnan also known as Rakhi (Dhanush) and much to his bad luck, he belongs to a family of well bred and highly educated individuals. His father (Prathap Pothen) is an auditor and Rakhi is still struggling to get through his matriculation boards. His lack of education makes him the victim for criticism and Rakhi finds solace in the company of his friends. As part of a discussion between pals, an idea flashes and Rakhi decides to marry a girl who is educated so that his image in society can be regained. His eyes fall upon Gayatri (Tamannah), an aeronautical student and from then on he starts wooing her. However, the pretty girl keeps turning him off until one day she gets attacked by the men of Chinna Reddy (Sayaji Shinde) and Rakhi saves her from them. In no time, Gayatri's father Samarsimha Reddy (Suman) comes from Andhra Pradesh and whisks her away to their native place. Rakhi is determined to get her and so he sets out to Andhra along with assault Arumugham (Vivek). Is he successful in his attempts? What is the role of Kasi (Atul Kulkarni) in the midst of all this? Watch the movie to find out.

Padikathavan Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a regular storyline but then it is the presentation and narrative that actually scored good. The dialogues were punch filled, the script was tight and the screenplay was effective. The music department did well with three beat numbers and cinematography captured the moments very well. Stunt department deserves a special pat on the back. Editing was crisp and the mixture of Telugu masala to the story was a variety. Dhanush came across with a stupendous performance and his boyish image suited well, Tamannah was all glamour and she has turned the heat with her glamour and oomph. Suman was elegant, Sayaji was effective, Atul Kulkarni was excellent, Prathap Poten was matured. Vivek yet again was the show stealer with his immense comedy and he has his own track that really worked for the film. The others did their bit and contributed well for the movie.

Padikathavan Filem Review

The film happens to be a straight formula approached plot and it had the commercial angles of romance, action, comedy and melodrama. While the first half goes about with the regular cat and mouse game and the eventual romance of the lead pair, the second half gets into the violent mode but then the entertainment aspect has been high at many points. Comedy was quite successful. The mass audience will have their pockets full with this one and glamour quotient of Tamannah is another highlight. The film will do well to make good profits. Perhaps the class may want to stay away.

Bharatstudent Verdict: A pure masala entertainer, recommended
